Building Blocks of Kindness: Bergkamp Team Stacks Up Support for Salina
Bergkamp's Connectivity Team recently organized a dual-purposed employee drive in support of a Salina charity and a local neighborhood in need. The Bergkamp team partnered with Salina Shares to provide employee-donated ground beef and easy-to-prepare foods for Salina area students. Employees also contributed over $370 in cash donations to the organization. In a drive for the Dover Circle neighborhood, employees donated 62 gallons and 111 cases of drinking water.
To celebrate the drive's success, the Connectivity Team hosted a "Block Party" building block contest at the Bergkamp facility. Each team's donation total determined how many wooden blocks they received, with every dollar of donated goods or cash equaling one block. Teams had 20 minutes to construct a structure using the blocks and hot glue guns. All participants voted for their favorite design, with the winning team treated to ice cream courtesy of the Connectivity Team.
The Orange Team took top honors with "Coronado," a wooden block replica of the Coronado Heights Castle near Lindsborg, KS. The Connectivity Team cut the wooden blocks themselves using existing Bergkamp equipment and plans to repurpose them at a future team event.
Rachel McDuffie, Buyer at Bergkamp, coordinated the drive. "Everybody came together and made it happen," she said. "It goes to show that you can really help with just a small amount or donation."
The Connectivity Team is proud to support our local communities and looks forward to future outreach events.
